Baden-Baden

Baden-Baden is a well known SPA town in the German state of Baden-Württemberg in south-western Germany (district capital is the city of Karlsruhe). 
It is located in the northern foothills of the Black Forest(Schwarzwald), on the banks of the Oos River and very close to France and Switzerland.


The most important points of interest in Baden Baden:


Kurhaus - The Kurgarten (SPA garten)

The Kurhaus is a SPA resort, casino, and a conference complex in Baden-Baden.


The Fabergé Museum is a museum dedicated to items made by the Russian jewellery firm Fabergé.

Old Castle "Hohenbaden"

Hohenbaden Old Castle (Altes Schloss Hohenbaden) was built in 1102, and is one of the oldest possessions of the margraves of Baden – with origins from the 12th century. The old castle fell into disuse after the family moved to newer castle and was left in ruins after a fire in the late 16th century.
Today, the ruin, with its fabulous view, is one of the most attractive destinations in the northern Black Forest.
The castle can be reached by car, bike or foot, the Old Castle is situated outside Baden Baden, approx. 4 km.


French border can be seen over the Rhine River 




Sometimes special events are being organised in the old cellars of Castle "Hohenbaden"



Stiftskirche

Stiftskirche is a church that includes the tombs of fourteen margraves of Baden.

Mountain Merkur


The top of the Mountain Merkur and the Observation Tower can be reached either by foot or using the Merkurbergbahn funicular railway. From this point the pictures speak for themselves. If you are visiting Baden Baden you should dedicate at least one hour to see thje breathtaking view over the enitre town.
